Designed to promote environmental awareness and responsible earth stewardship.

Join us for guided walks and nature studies within the "outside classrooms" of our private wildlife refuge. You'll learn alot while enjoying a breath of fresh air with family and like-minded friends old and new.

We offer 2 to 4 hour sessions, April thru November. Overnight rental packages are available. Any scheduled mini-workshop is also available for private lessons by request - perfect for special occassion gifts, field study programs, weekend getaways, custom retreats and vacation rentals.

Wildlife Conservation Series
Designed to promote environmental awareness and responsible earth stewardship, we will discuss the issues effecting wildlife, how to help animals in nature without disturbing their natural habitat in a negative way, and how improving the environment will help our survival and the survival of wildlife.

Wildlife Habitat Design, Site Preparation and Establishment
Learn conservation practices with these 1-7 day hands-on workshops within our private wildlife refuge. Learn about songbirds, migration species, and woodland animals and the habitat conservation practices to attract, nurture and protect them. Knowledge and skills learned will turn any home window box or gardens into a haven for you and nature to share. Perfect for Boys and Girls Scout badge projects, school field study, like-minded conservationists, hobbists, master gardeners, and educational activity during a custom retreat, getaway or vacation rental.

Upland Birds and Migration Species
Choose one or both 2 hour sessions:
10am - Noon: Learn how to distinquish between a migrating bird and songbird, between butterflies and moths, how to attract and protect them and their relationship with pollination.
1 - 3PM: Group art project - Tole paint a butterfly house
Total Time: 4 hours

Earth Day
4/22,
Friday, 4PM - 6PM -Upland Birds and Migration Species (noted above)
4/23, Saturday - choose one or both 2 hour sessions:
10am - Noon: Workshop discussion on environmental issues, how they negatively effect wildlife and what we can do to help reverse, dissolve and prevent further negative effects from occurring.
1 - 3PM: After a discussion on how to attract wildlife to our backyard habitats, we will prepare sites and plant seedlings and nursery stock.
Total Time: 4 hours

Wildlife and Survival
We will discuss the importance of wildlife survival and dangers of global warming, pollution and acid rain.
Total Time: 2 hours

Get to Know Your Trees
Using sample wood cuttings, we will first discuss the unique characteristics, properties and classification of each specific native North American tree, followed by a exploratory walk in the woods for students to apply the knowledge and identify each wood discussed in its natural standing.
Total Time: 4 hours

June 18 • 2 sessions

Arbor Day
Saturday - choose one or both 2 hour sessions:
10am - Noon: It's all trees! We will discuss non-controlled logging, importance of planting trees to replenish and reconditioned logging areas, the importance of trees to wildlife, humans and the enviroment, and why we plant specific trees in specific areas.
1 - 3PM: Learn the proper method of planting trees in prepared sites.
Total Time: 4 hours

Commercial Food and Wildlife Population
Effects commercial food products have on wildlife.
Total Time: 2 hours

Nature of the Beast
Discuss ethology and what it means - the study of animal behavior.
Roles of instinct, roles of learning and roles geneics
Total Time: 2 hours

Wildlife and Seasonal Changes
Discuss the necessities animals need throughout the change of seasons. How to create and place habitats, shelter and wind breaks, nesting houses and more.
Total Time: 4 hours

Hunting and the Effect on Wildlife
Legal and non-legal and effects on big game counts and populations.
Total Time: 2 hours
