Whispering Springs Haven
Programs are offered to all ages and grade levels. Academic skills that apply to every day life, such as reading, writing, and math are emphasized and woven within various arts and environmental projects.
We offer individualized program development, original lesson plans,
field trip opportunities and healthy activities focusing on the creative arts, wellness and nature studies. Whispering Springs Haven instructors and/or partnered school teachers and group leaders will implement project lesson plans.
Sample of Project Opportunities:
• Wildlife Conservation Series
Hands-on mini-workshops designed to promote environmental awareness and responsible earth stewardship. To see a complete listing click on the link to the left.
• Research and design, plant and maintain
(10) 1/10 of an acre permanent food plots for migratory songbirds, hummingbirds, pollination species and foraging wildlife.
• Construct a "Whispering Springs Interpretive Trail.
Students research and identify trees, plants and herbs of interest found along the trails; draw, photograph or press specimens, map their location, write descriptions create signage, and more.
• Produce an "Interpretive Trail Guidebook".
Students will learn the stages of layout, design, desktop publishing and print production.
• Produce advertising and marketing campaigns;
design and produce promotional tools and media production.
While serving actual businesses within the local community, qualified students will learn market research techniques, advertising and marketing methods, media buying, broadcast radio, TV, print and web production.
• Build "outside classroom" benches and shelters
• Build campsites
• Build a solar energy bathhouse and bunkhouse using
straw bale construction
